Intraoral scanner

OfficeDent medical teamUpdated:

Scanner intraoral

The digital intraoral scanner is arguably the newest technology in dentistry, reducing the patient's chair time both for diagnosis and for other pre-treatment procedures, such as dental impressions. The main strength of this technology is undoubtedly that, being a digitally assisted process, it increases the quality of the final work, and the patient benefits from a non-invasive and relaxing experience.

The intraoral scanner takes the impression digitally, directly in the patient's mouth, without the need for impression materials, which were quite difficult for patients to tolerate and required more steps. In addition, the time needed to make the dental work is considerably reduced, and crowns or prosthetic work can be done on the same day.

Viewing the 3D models on the computer screen before they are actually made allows the entire team of professionals involved to check every last detail, and the work produced with CAD/CAM systems is of maximum accuracy (margin of error < 10 microns) while also being much more durable.

CEREC Scanner Intraoral

At the OfficeDent clinic we use the world-leading Sirona CEREC system, which automatically captures the exact shade of the teeth, so the doctor can highlight certain areas and send them digitally to the laboratory together with the dental impression.

In addition, this type of digital intraoral scanner comes with the tremendous benefit of 3D visualization in the real colours of the patient's teeth and tissues, so the treatment outcome becomes predictable and reliable, and human error is almost completely eliminated.

Computer-aided design and fabrication of prosthetic dental restorations results in a much faster turnaround, because fewer steps are involved in making this type of restoration.
